Booking a car, in plain English

10 questions

Is there a limo service near me?

Almost certainly. We dispatch in more than five hundred American cities, with dedicated coverage in the metros listed on the cities page and affiliate coverage in roughly ninety countries. Rather than guessing at "near me", tell the desk your pickup address and it will confirm coverage and quote a fixed fare in one call.

How much does a limo cost per hour?

Hourly rates are set per city and per vehicle class, with a three-hour minimum in most US markets and four in a few. There is no single national price because a fare in Manhattan and a fare in Boise are not the same number. The online reservation system quotes your actual journey in seconds, and the rates page explains exactly what is inside the price.

Can I rent a limo or a party bus for the night?

Yes. Stretch limo rental, stretch SUV limo, party bus and party Sprinter rental, mini bus and full motorcoach charter are all available, booked as an evening block rather than by the trip. Alcohol in the vehicle is governed by your state and by the vehicle class, and the desk will tell you what applies before you pay.

What is a chauffeur service, and is it the same as a limo service?

They are the same product under two names. A chauffeur service is a pre-booked car with a professional, commercially licensed driver at a fixed fare — sedan, SUV, Sprinter, stretch or coach. "Limo service" is the older American term for it and covers the same fleet.

Do you do town car service?

Yes. "Town car" in American usage means the executive sedan class — a black Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercedes or BMW saloon with a professional chauffeur. It is the class most corporate travel policies name, and the cheapest way to arrive properly.

Can I book a car service online right now?

Yes. The reservation form quotes a fixed all-in fare before you confirm and confirms immediately. Same-day and last-minute bookings are usually possible for sedans and SUVs; stretch vehicles, coaches and wheelchair-accessible vehicles need more notice.

What is the difference between a limo service, a black car service and a taxi?

A taxi is hailed and metered. A black car service is pre-booked at a fixed fare in an executive sedan or SUV with a professional chauffeur. A limousine service covers the same thing plus the stretch and specialty vehicles. Everything on this site is pre-booked and fixed-fare — nothing is metered and nothing surges.

Do you offer 24-hour car service?

Yes. Reservations and dispatch are staffed twenty-four hours a day, every day of the year, and vehicles run at any hour. Early-morning airport departures and after-midnight event pickups are routine work rather than exceptions.

Can I get a charter bus or motorcoach rental for a group?

Yes — mini buses from about twenty-four seats and motorcoaches to fifty-six, with the driver hours planned into the quote rather than discovered on the night. Multi-coach blocks for conventions and weddings are dispatched from a single manifest.

Do you provide non-emergency medical transportation?

Yes, for ambulatory and wheelchair passengers travelling to appointments, treatment and discharge. It is a chauffeured car or accessible van with a driver who waits, not an ambulance: we do not carry stretcher patients and we do not provide clinical care en route.

Booking and pricing

7 questions

How do I book a car?

Three ways: the online reservation system on this site, which quotes a fixed fare and confirms immediately; the reservation desk on (877) 860-3388; or by email to support@americanlimousine.services. Corporate accounts can also send bookings from a travel management company or a corporate booking tool.

How far in advance should I book?

For a routine airport transfer, twenty-four hours is comfortable and same-day is usually possible. For a stretch limousine, a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, a motorcoach, or anything during a major convention, festival or championship week, book weeks or months ahead — those vehicles genuinely run out.

Is the price fixed?

Yes. The fare quoted at booking includes tolls, parking, airport access fees and fuel, and does not change with traffic, weather or demand. The only things that change it are changes you make: an extra stop, additional wait time, or a different vehicle class.

Do you use surge pricing?

No. Rates are published per city and per vehicle class and do not move with demand, weather or time of day.

Is gratuity included?

The gratuity policy applying to your booking is shown on the quote and the confirmation before you pay, so there is nothing to calculate at the end of the ride.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards for individual bookings. Corporate accounts are invoiced monthly with cost-centre allocation. Cash is not accepted for pre-booked work.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sedans and SUVs may be cancelled without charge up to a defined window before pickup, which varies by market and is stated on your confirmation. Stretch vehicles, Sprinters, buses and event bookings carry longer notice periods because the vehicle is taken out of service for you. The full policy is on the cancellation page.

On the day

6 questions

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Nothing you need to do. Every airport reservation is linked to your flight number and the pickup time moves automatically with the actual arrival. Airline delays are not charged as wait time.

How much waiting time is included?

Thirty minutes from touchdown on domestic arrivals, ninety on international arrivals, thirty minutes at rail stations and ninety minutes on cruise disembarkation. At other pickups, fifteen minutes is complimentary and time beyond that is billed in fifteen-minute increments.

How will I know who my chauffeur is?

You receive a message before pickup with the chauffeur's name, cell number, and the vehicle make, colour and plate. On airport meet-and-greet bookings the chauffeur is inside the terminal with a name board.

Can I add a stop on the way?

Yes. Tell the chauffeur or the desk and it is added; the additional time or distance is charged at the published rate. Telling the desk in advance means it is priced into the fare instead.

Do you provide child seats?

Yes, infant, convertible and booster seats on request at no extra charge in most markets. They must be requested at booking so the chauffeur fits them before leaving the yard, and you should tell the desk the child's age and weight.

Can I bring my pet?

Yes. Declare the species, size and whether the animal is crated at booking so the right vehicle is assigned. Service animals travel with no surcharge and no advance notice required.

Vehicles and coverage

5 questions

What vehicles are available?

Executive and luxury sedans, executive and luxury SUVs, electric sedans and SUVs in supported markets, stretch limousines, stretch SUV limousines, executive and party Sprinter vans, mini buses, motorcoaches and wheelchair-accessible vehicles. The fleet page lists passenger and luggage capacity for each.

Which cities do you cover?

More than five hundred cities across the United States directly, and roughly ninety countries through the Limousine Worldwide Directory and Limousine Association International affiliate networks. The cities page lists the metros with dedicated coverage.

Are you a limousine company or a broker?

Both, deliberately. In our core markets the work is carried by operators we hold direct agreements with. Elsewhere it is placed with vetted affiliate operators through the Limousine Worldwide Directory and Limousine Association International networks. Either way one desk owns the booking and one invoice covers it.

Are your chauffeurs screened?

Yes. Operators carrying our work are required to background-check and drug-test chauffeurs, hold the licence class their state requires, and carry commercial liability insurance. Corporate accounts can request that evidence for their travel-risk team.

Are you insured?

Every vehicle on our work carries commercial liability insurance at or above the limits required by its state and by federal regulation for interstate carriage. Certificates are provided to corporate accounts on request.

6 questions

Do you offer discreet transportation for public figures?

Yes. Unmarked vehicles, chauffeurs who sign non-disclosure agreements, service and artist entrances arranged in advance, decoy vehicles on request, and the ability to work under a protective detail's movement plan. See the celebrity and VIP page.

Do you provide transportation for seniors?

Yes, as a door-through-door service: the chauffeur walks with the passenger from the front door to the car and into the destination, waits through the appointment, and helps with groceries or packages. Standing weekly bookings keep the same chauffeur. Family members can hold the account and be billed from another state.

Can you take me to a hospital appointment?

Yes, as non-emergency medical transportation. Return legs are booked on-call because discharge times are unpredictable, and the chauffeur can act as your documented escort after a procedure where the facility permits it. We are not an ambulance service and do not bill insurance or Medicaid.

Do you have wheelchair-accessible vehicles?

Yes, with ramps or lifts and four-point securement. This class must be reserved in advance — a week is comfortable — and we need the chair type, dimensions and occupied weight so the correct vehicle is assigned.

Can you handle a convention with several hundred delegates?

Yes. Arrival and departure manifests built from your rooming list and flight data, airport greeter desks, published-interval shuttle loops, offsite transfers and an on-site coordinator for programmes over roughly a hundred delegates.

Do you carry unaccompanied minors?

Yes, with a named releasing adult at each end, additionally screened chauffeurs, a signature at schools and camps, and parent notifications at every stage of the trip.

Company and network

5 questions

What is the Limousine Worldwide Directory?

The worldwide register of chauffeur and limousine operators. Our listing there lets a new client verify that the company behind this site is real and insured, and gives us a route to a vetted operator in a city we have not driven before. We are a member.

What is the Limousine Association International?

The association whose standards on chauffeur screening, commercial cover, vehicle inspection and passenger conduct we sign up to, and whose affiliate operators carry our bookings outside the United States. We are a member.

Can I book hotels and flights through you as well?

Yes, through the Travel Center powered by BookingWorldwide.net: flights, hotels, resorts, activities, packages and car rental, booked alongside the chauffeured legs.

How do I become an affiliate operator?

Through the affiliates page. Operators need current commercial insurance, the licences their jurisdiction requires, screened chauffeurs and a dispatch contact that answers around the clock.

How do I contact you?

The reservation desk is on (877) 860-3388 and reachable by email at support@americanlimousine.services. Email is answered around the clock; a copy of every enquiry also reaches our network coordinator so nothing sits unanswered.

Not answered here?

The desk would rather answer a question before you book than fix a problem afterwards.
